• Appointments Advance ACE USA’s National and Regional Operations

Group today announced two executive appointments in its regional
operations to support ACE’s expansion in key markets in the U.S.,
particularly in the upper middle market segment, which is comprised of
organizations that generate between $25M and $250M in revenue:

Andrew Hurley has been named Senior Vice President of the Corporate
Risk Segment for ACE USA. In this newly-created position, Mr. Hurley
will have national responsibility for directing ACE’s distribution,
service and underwriting initiatives targeted to its Corporate Risk
segment, which caters to upper middle market companies. He will
oversee a nationwide network of Corporate Risk professionals who will
support brokers with specialty solutions from ACE’s broad insurance
portfolio, from excess casualty to cyber to multinational travel and
accident programs.

Karen Sothern has been appointed Regional Executive Officer for New
York. In this role, Ms. Sothern will be responsible for setting and
driving the overall strategic direction for the New York region, and
overseeing regional production plans, distribution, product sales,
marketing, and producer management.

Mr. Hurley, who brings nearly 25 years of sales and underwriting
industry experience, primarily in commercial lines, joined ACE in 2006,
and most recently served as Regional Executive Officer for the New York
market. He previously held several underwriting and regional leadership
positions at ACE, including serving as Branch Manager of the company’s
Northern New Jersey office, and as Corporate Risk Segment Leader for its
New York office. Mr. Hurley will continue to report to John Alfieri,
Division President, ACE USA Regional Operations.
Ms. Sothern brings more than 30 years of underwriting leadership,
business development, client executive experience, and regional
territory management to her role. Ms. Sothern most recently served as
Chief Culture Officer for ACE Group, where she helped enculturate ACE’s
underwriting practices and behaviors among newly-acquired companies
around the world. This culture integration work has been embedded into
ACE’s businesses globally and will now be led by the Regional leaders as
acquisitions occur. Prior to this, Ms. Sothern served as Regional
Executive Officer of the Northeast region for ACE USA. Ms. Sothern will
report to Mr. Alfieri in her new role.
