Manager Aberdeen at ACE have been appointed Presidents of the Insurance
and Actuarial Society of Glasgow and the Insurance Institute of Aberdeen
respectively. Their appointments demonstrate the depth of expertise
within the ACE team in Scotland, and the strength of ACE’s support
network in the local Scottish insurance market.

The Insurance and Actuarial Society of Glasgow (IASG) is the second
oldest insurance institute in the UK and has over 3,500 members who work
in the insurance and financial sectors. Andy Macfarlane takes over as
President of the IASG from Lorraine Dillett. Andy joined ACE in 2010 and
has been regional manager for Scotland since 2012. He has over 20 years’
experience working in the in the insurance industry in Scotland.
Andy Macfarlane commented: “I am honoured to have been appointed
President of the IASG, which has a considerable reach within the local
industry. As president, one of my key objectives will be to raise the
profile and understanding of the industry to young people, with the view
of attracting ambitious and talented professionals to enter the sector

The Insurance Institute of Aberdeen has over 500 members and provides
training and networking to local insurance professionals. Jim Rutherford
took over as President from Ian Fraser in April. Jim joined ACE in 2012
as Branch Manager, Aberdeen and has over 25 years’ experience working in
the insurance industry.

of the Aberdeen Insurance Institute. Local CII institutes look after
over 35,000 members nationwide and provide unique training, education,
mentoring and networking opportunities to professionals across the
industry. In my role as President of the Aberdeen Institute, I will look
to engage further with local industries, in particular the oil & gas
community, which is key to our local and national economy. In addition
to focusing on attracting talent to the profession and building on the
wide range of CPD events currently run by the institute, I will also be
expanding our networking abilities beyond insurance by forging closer
relationships with other local professional bodies.”
